ENGINE DRESSING

These products have become more and more popular. Not only do they brighten everything up, but, in many instances, improve reliability and even performance. Many more 'shiny engine bay products' can be found in the Performance section.


GTT 'Lobster Back' Inlet Elbow
The original black plastic elbow that sits on top of the carb. has many flaws. Our all alloy replacement has many advantages over the original, especially the name! - 'Lobster Back' refers to the cutting and welding process using wedge sections of alloy tube welded together to produce the necessary larger radius curve. Diameter is also increased slightly and maintained along the entire length emproving on the restrictive design of the original shape.
Advantages:-
(1) It looks splendid ­ highly polished to a mirror finish.
(2) The triangular flange does not distort or crack like the plastic one, ensuring good seal and no power loss.
(3) The round end, where the boost hose clamps cannot distort, again ensuring no leaks or popping-off of the hose ­ a real favourite with the plastic item.
(4) Four outlets, whereas the original has three outlets, we have included a 4th, complete with blanking plug for when not in use. This enables a boost gauge to be connected, without having to cut any hoses and mess around with 'T' pieces.
(5) For ultimate performance, a gas-flowed / blueprint version is available. This is gas-flowed by hand to further remove restriction, allowing perfect flow of air in to the carb. ONTEST As tested in Fast Five Issue 3. The pressure drop is considerably reduced due to better flow and seals.
This corresponds to a good increase in power! Try it.

GTT Twin-skinned Turbo Heatshield (ED088)
This is manufactured from S316 grade stainless steel and highly polished to a 'chrome-like' finish. Being stainless steel, it cannot burn or deteriorate in the way the original shield does. The twin skin creates a thermal barrier, preventing power-robbing hot air being drawn in through the air filter system. It is easy to remove and re-fit. The appearance is enhanced by the laser-cut 'GT Tuning' logo on the top surface and, as if this were not enough, it's also less expensive than the standard heatshield! Why have matt black when you can have chrome?

GTT Polished Alloy Degassing Chamber (ED089)
This replaces the Renault plastic item which has been known to split resulting in almost instant head gasket failure. Easy to fit and no visible welds when fitted.

GTT Polished Alloy Breather Chamber (ED090)
Similar construction to our degassing chamber, special baffled design prevents oil leakage. Fitted in five minutes, again no visible welds.

GTT Polished Stainless Steel Top Water Hose Insert (ED091)
Basically this allows most of the top water hose to be removed except for approx. 4" or so at each end. The insert features flared ends to prevent the rubber hose from slipping off. Water flow is improved due to the impossibility of it crushing or sucking in at high rpm ­ looks great.

GTT Polished Alloy Header Tank (ED092)
This directly replaces the original plastic item. It benefits greatly over others we have seen in many ways. Firstly, it is baffled. That means that inside the tank is a horizontal aluminium divider with a small hole in the centre. This all-important feature ensures water completely covers the bottom section of the tank at all times. Without it, under hard acceleration, steep inclines or hard right turns, it would be possible for air to enter the system, causing an air lock, which would blow the head gasket very easily. (It still amazes us the short cuts others will take to save a few bob!) Secondly, our tanks include a beautifully made 'ninja throwing star' style, highly polished alloy filler cap, infinitely better than the standard plastic cap used by others. Lastly, the system features an adjustable pressure release valve. This is factory pre-set by us, but can be adjusted if necessary. Construction and finish is stunning. A baffle plate has now also been fitted to the underside of the ninja cap to prevent any leakage from the pressure release valve when used on vehicles where a blocked radiator is producing too much system pressure. NB can be easily adapted for phase 1 cars too.

GTT 2 Section Chrome Scottle Covers (ED093)
Electrically insulated cover for battery, and second matching cover for other side hides a multitude of unattractive items often kept in these compartments. Includes 8 mini mounting brackets and bolts. A must for all tidy engine bay freaks. (see back cover)

Highly polished stainless steel, machined and formed radiator cover. Brightens up a dull looking radiator no end. Fitted in five minutes.

Chrome Rocker covers (ED095)
Essential centre piece for all modified engines. These are sold on exchange. Why not have one fitted during a GTT full engine tune. Doing so means there is no labour charge involved as it is removed anyway!

GTT 'Ninja Throwing Star' Oil Filler Cap (ED098)
CNC machined from solid L168 aircraft spec. alloy, it is very similar in construction and appearance to the header tank cap supplied with the above. It is designed to clip over the original cap. Fitting time 30 seconds!

Progrip Fittings with coloured nylon tube (ED096)
Proffesional quick release fittings and tubing as used by Maclaren Formula 1. Guaranteed not to leak, burst or blow off even at over 100 PSI. Looks stunning. Replaces original black plastic caps. Smartens up engine bay no end. Fitted in a couple of minutes. Machined from solid billet with rippled polished finish.
