BRAKES

Good brakes are important in maintaining a balanced performance package. Improvements range from the fitting of Kevlar brake pads all round (the best), our standard size 'x' drill discs with Kevlar pads, through to our GTT 'Big Brake Conversion'. It should be noted that although expensive 4 pot kits are available, due to the low weight of the vehicle, these are widely unnecessary and can cause problems in normal day to day use. Our 'Big Brake' kit is used by many in circuit racing and reports confirm they have never faded yet, so offering excellent value, and certainly perfect for fast road too! All GT Tuning brake discs are of modified Group 'N' quality fine grade pearlitic cast steel. In order to ensure that our discs give unparalleled performance, we have improved upon two of the most common failings; these being imbalance and run-out.
Balance: Surprisingly, many performance discs are not balanced at all. This saves on production costs, but can cause wheel wobble and vibration at speed (similar to an unbalanced wheel). Each GT Tuning disc is individually dynamically balanced to fine tolerances.
Run-out: Although all disc manufacturers recognise run-out as being important, the extent to which it is controlled varies considerably. In essence, run-out will cause serious vibration whilst braking with inefficient and unequal stopping power. GT Tuning brake discs have very fine run-out tolerances (+ or ­ 0.0005 inch). The forty crossdrilled holes are accurately positioned using C.N.C. machines to give maximum cooling and chamferred by the correct amount to give efficient brake pad deglazing. Each pair is 'handed' (left and right directional) to give identical braking characteristics at each wheel. GT Tuning discs have 40 holes per disc, this means there is a hole between every pair of webs. Any less than this and quite simply only part of the disc is cooling properly ­ a perfect recipe for warped discs!

GTT Big Brake Conversion (B118)
Consists of :
1) A pair of massive 288mm diameter & thicker crossdrilled / vented left and right hand front discs.
2) High performance Kevlar brake pads.
3) High tensile precision C.N.C. manufactured solid steel calliper extenders (BS43A High carbon steel), all bolts and full instructions.
Being 50mm bigger than standard discs they give unparalleled stopping power and eliminate fade. They also look superb and purposeful. This package can only be used with 15" and above alloy wheels due to calliper to wheel clearance.

Note: Due to unavoidable damage to rear wheel bearings when being pressed out from rear discs (and possible warpage of discs when replacing rear wheel bearings), we recommend that bearings and discs are always replaced together. Hence the popularity of this package.
